Chalinochromis ndobhoi
Sex differences: Males and females are colored. Males show a bit more elongated finnage and attain a larger size. Aquarium behavior: Chalinochromis ndobhoi makes an excellent aquarium resident in almost any cichlid environment. They are not overly aggressive, and can definitely take care of themselves. Specimens will hover in and out rocks as well as swim around in open water. Aquarium diet: C. ndobhoi readily accept most foods: flakes, frozen, and live. A combination of foods is recommended. Observed spawning habits: Chalinochromis ndobhoi form pairs to breed. The female selects a spawning site and deposits greenish colored eggs. Both parents will guard the babies until they are large enough to swim away from the original spawning site. We have also seen single males breed with multiple females. Other information: C. ndobhoi is a striking fish, and some variants actually show blue hues in the unpaired fins as shown in the photo above. Trivia: Most resources claim that C. ndobhoi is only found from Bulu Point south to |
